Revealing performance gets X-Factor attention from FCC
Following the X-Factor contestant Geo Godley’s pants-dropping performance, Godley responded to complaints about his indecency.
Godley insisted to TMZ that dropping his pants during his performance is part of his Greek culture, and that he believed his family jewels were not exposed as reported, stating, “We always dance in g-strings,” Godley told TMZ.
Paula Abdul walks out on Godley’s X-Factor act
During his performance the singer dropped his pants twice and danced around in his rear-baring underwear, prompting Paula Abdul to leave the room during the performance in disgust. After the singer finished, music producer L.A. Reid gave him an earful, saying his act was “offensive, disgusting, distasteful, and upsetting.”
The Parents Television Council was also not amused, immediately filing a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission labeling his public behavior obscene and “patently offensive.”
Though Godley said he was sorry for his almost-nude display, he was unapologetic when it came to his opinion on his decency/indecency, since what he was wearing can be seen anytime on several public beaches. “G-strings are legal. The PTC have no complaint to make,” Godley said.
The show was filmed live, however during the broadcast a black and red “X” covered his unveiling during the performance – which because of the placement suggested he was actually fully revealed from the waist down.
